Joe's Cafe

How a place like this survives in the 21st century is simply beyond me. A haunt for old, decrepit folk that live in the neighbourhood and stoners looking for some cheap meal. The dishes they serve are as outdated as the interior of the cafe. I had to go in with a neighbour of mine who was getting a snack - and nothing looked appetizing. I eventually ordered the soup. The regret hit me faster than you can say minestrone. Please try the multitude of other restaurants available on Commercial Drive.

Queer friendly, particularly sweet beverages are so good.

Old school place. Great atmosphere, great coffee, great service, have not eaten here so can't comment, but sure its decent too...

The best cafe mocha I've ever had!

Really enjoyed the older gentlemen behind the counter. Decent classic cappuccino. It's not third wave Vancouver coffee, but it's a quality spot for a traditional drink.

This place has the best cappuccino. Steamed milk with 2 shots of a unique mocha espresso with cinnamon and chocolate powder on top. Just wonderful. They even have a bitcoin ATM

Absolutely love the quaint authentic coffee shop on the Drive. First visit during the annual Parade of Lost Souls. Popped in for a warm beverage to warm up and was charmed by the barista who made me the most beautiful mocha that I'd ever seen. Even better...it was the best tasting too!!! A must stop on your visit to this eclectic neighbourhood. Thanks Joe.

My favorite spot on the strip for great GOOD coffee! I love the atmosphere here because of it's vintage style and old school feel. They have great food, open late and licensed! Not to mention the best regulars in town, who have always been the best faces to see. As a new comer here Joe's Cafe has always been that hidden gem for just myself to escape the fast paced city life. Joe is the sweetest man around and I feel this is a spot for anyone who wants to find a "go to" spot on the drive, get away from the hustle and bustle, enjoy people watching, be left alone and grab a hell of a good coffee while getting some work or studying done 🤙😊

Well, they don't have the best Cappuccinos in town. I see why people say that-because of the size. But, it's your basic Cap. And sadly all over priced for store baught desserts(not made in house). And the sandies are what you'd make on a lazy day at home. The space is nice, good for billiards and getting some work done or reading a book since there is no music playing. But it is a sports cafe, so the tv will probably be playing a game of some sort. PS: they put chocolate on their cappuccinos

Great place , simple as that

The staff are very friendly and the coffee is good. The crowd has that unique mix of people, true to the Commercial Drive area. The time I was here some young guy got in an altercation on the street outside the cafe and got stabbed in the neck (only minor). My friend and I we're sitting next to the window and had a front row seat while the cops and paramedics fussed over him for half an hour. So the entertainment value here is good lol.

It was a different place, not like other cafe's I've been to. It was interesting.

If you're on Commercial Drive you have to go to Joe's. Joe is still there too, so ask for Joe! Great ice cream floats, you can mix the ice cream with your favorite pop.

Best latte and cappucino in town. Come here if you enjoy watching football (the real one that you play with feet). That's all. Bad or strange choice if you want to come for a date.

Joe is such an awesome person and I just love the food. He makes the best soup and sandwiches. I love the way he makes you feel at home. He always talks to you if it's not to busy. This place is so cool. Thank you Joe 😊.

Cute little back to the future coffee shop.come on its senior citizen guys running an authentic retro cafe. They treat me like a princess and the food is hot, fresh, real and has Lotsa flavour. How come I can't add my photo here. Anyhow the food does look as yummy as all the photos. Do you wanna eavesdrop on Portuguese sports talk??? And I dunno soccer games. Do you miss the 60's,70's and 80's? Come here. Bring your own stereo and headphones even. Watch history while you dine. People watching factor.... 10. One of the guys has a Mafioso voice. I keep adding to my order just to hear him repeat it all from the top. Hahahaha coolest place in town. Awesome to do a little school work if you like background chatter.... Whenever the door opens, I expect Fonzie or Chachi to come through. Come and see!!!

This is an old school dive. Some people love this stuff, if you’re not one of them.. kindly leave.Recommenations: $8 Sandwiches, $5 Cappuccinos, $4.75 Beer (in a frosted mug). Yes, washrooms are kinda gross. If you’re a clean freak.. go to Starbucks.
